Many of us are aware that many insect pollinators (honey
bees in particular) have experienced a horrific decline in
global populations in the last decades. One such pollinator
is our native rusty-patched bumble bee, who is all but
extinct in many states where it was once common. Bees
are amazing living chemistry sets to me. The reasons for
their demise -- and the solution, if we can find one in time
-- is an even greater (perhaps alchemical) mystery.
